Day 42 He has Risen

Daily Prayer: “Jesus I want to know you more intimately. I want to experience the fullness of your Holy Spirit and power in my life. I want you to use me to impact this world for you!”

Read focus passages Matthew 28:1-7, Romans 6:4. As you read, let the truth of Christ’s resurrection raise you to new life!

Read out loud the focus verse for today: Matthew 28:6. “He is not here; he has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.” Repeat these verses over and over to yourself today.

Meditate today: “He has risen.”  Just as fully as you celebrate that Christ has risen, it is time to celebrate that “you have risen” too. Now, leave your old life behind and go in the power of the Holy Spirit and live a new life to save others!        

Spend 30+ min in prayer in the morning taking deeply to your heart the promise of Christ’s resurrection for your own life: that you can now go forth in a new life in the resurrection power of the Holy Spirit. Do this at other times during the day as well. Imagine the radiance of Christ’s resurrection life! Embrace by faith His radiance for your own life! Thank Him for raising you up and giving you a new life. Weep at His feet and give thanks that you are alive in the power of His resurrection! Tell Him you are ready to go forth in resurrection power and save others.

Closing prayer: “Holy Lord Jesus, thank you for raising me from the dead to live a new life. Now that my 40 days of prayer and fasting have ended, use me to raise others from the dead.”

Day 41 He is Not Here

Daily Prayer: “Jesus I want to know you more intimately. I want to experience the fullness of your Holy Spirit and power in my life. I want you to use me to impact this world for you!”

Read focus passages Matthew 28:1-7, Ephesians 2:1-6. As you read, let the truth of Christ’s resurrection raise you to new life!

Read out loud the focus verse for today: Matthew 28:6. “He is not here; he has risen, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay.” Repeat these verses over and over to yourself today.

Meditate today: “He is not here.”  Just as fully as you celebrate that Christ is no longer in the tomb, it is time to celebrate that “you are not here” either. Jesus has resurrected your spiritually dead spirit from the tomb of sin and death!        

Spend 30+ min in prayer in the morning taking deeply to your heart the glorious hope of Christ’s resurrection that your spirit no more has to lay in the darkness of sin’s tomb. Do this at other times during the day as well. Imagine your spirit lying in a dark tomb. Imagine an earthquake. See the stone being rolled away. See the light flooding in and the power the Holy Spirit coming on you and raising you up! Weep at His feet and give thanks that you are not dead anymore! Burst forth from the tomb and tell Him you are ready to go and save others.

Closing prayer: “Holy Lord Jesus, thank you for raising my dead spirit from the tomb of sin. As my 40 days of prayer and fasting end, reward me with resurrection power to save others.”

Day 40 Descended Into Darkness & Hell

Daily Prayer: “Jesus I want to know you more intimately. I want to experience the fullness of your Holy Spirit and power in my life. I want you to use me to impact this world for you!”

Read focus passages Matthew 12:40, John 20:17. As you read, let it sink deeper in your heart how Christ suffered to save you!

Read out loud the focus verse for today: Matthew 27:46.“For as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of a huge fish, so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” Repeat these verses over and over to yourself today.

Meditate today: “so the Son of Man will be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.”  In His love for you, Jesus suffered to sink into the depths of hell and all of its terrors and agonies in the “heart of the earth” to save you.       

Spend 30+ min in prayer in the morning taking deeply to your heart the unimaginable terrors and sufferings of hell which Jesus suffered to save you. Do this at other times during the day as well. Try to imagine the unthinkable! The holy soul of the Son of God separated from His Father and all alone in the depths of eternal darkness and evil in the heart of the earth. Thank Him for suffering Hell to save you from it. Repent for being unwilling to suffer for Him. Tell Him you are willing to suffer in any way that is necessary to save others from hell.

Closing prayer: “Holy Lord Jesus, thank you for suffering in the depths of hell to save me. Prepare me during my 40 days of prayer and fasting to suffer whatever it takes to save others.”

Day 39 Forsaken by God

Daily Prayer: “Jesus I want to know you more intimately. I want to experience the fullness of your Holy Spirit and power in my life. I want you to use me to impact this world for you!”

Read focus passage Matthew 27:45-54. As you read, let it sink deeper into your heart all that Christ suffered to save you!

Read out loud the focus verse for today: Matthew 27:46. “About the ninth hour Jesus cried out in a loud voice… “My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?Repeat these verses over and over to yourself today.

Meditate today: Why have you forsaken me?”  In His love for you, Jesus suffered to actually be forsaken and separated from His Father’s presence on the cross to save you.       

Spend 30+ min in prayer in the morning taking deeply to your heart the loneliness, terror and darkness that came upon Christ when His Father withdrew His presence from Him on the cross. Do this at other times during the day as well. Hear the terror and despair in His voice. Imagine the depths of His heartbreak and sorrow. Weep at His feet and feel His suffering. Thank Him for suffering to be forsaken by God in such loneliness, terror and darkness for you. Repent for being unwilling to suffer for Him. Tell Him you are willing to suffer in any way that is necessary to save others from being forsaken.

Closing prayer: “Holy Lord Jesus, thank you for suffering to be forsaken by God on the cross to save me. Prepare me during my 40 days of prayer and fasting to suffer whatever it takes to save others.”

Day 38 Hung on the Cross

Daily Prayer: “Jesus I want to know you more intimately. I want to experience the fullness of your Holy Spirit and power in my life. I want you to use me to impact this world for you!”

Read focus passage Mark 15:25-39. As you read, let it sink deeper into your heart all that Christ suffered to save you!

Read out loud the focus verses for today: Mark 15:25 & 33. “It was the third hour when they crucified Him.” “At the sixth hour darkness came over the whole land until the ninth hour” Repeat these verses over and over to yourself today.

Meditate today: “It was the third hour… until the ninth hour.”  In His love for you, Jesus hung on the cross from spikes in His hands and feet in torturous agonizing pain for more than 6 hours, struggling and gasping for breath to save you.       

Spend 30+ min in prayer in the morning taking deeply to your heart the terrible sufferings of Christ as He hung nailed to the cross for more the 6 hours. Do this at other times during the day as well. Think of how torturous it was for Him. Imagine Him struggling to endure the mind boggling pain as the very people He is dying for mock and curse Him. Thank Him for suffering for you. Weep at His feet and feel His suffering. Repent for being unwilling to suffer for Him. Tell Him you are willing to suffer and even be crucified for Him to save others.

Closing prayer: “Holy Lord Jesus, thank you for suffering to hang on the cross to save me. Prepare me during my 40 days of prayer and fasting to suffer whatever it takes to save others.”

Day 37 Nailed Hands & Feet

Daily Prayer: “Jesus I want to know you more intimately. I want to experience the fullness of your Holy Spirit and power in my life. I want you to use me to impact this world for you!”

Read focus passages John 19:16-18. Luke 24:40. As you read, let it sink deeper into your heart all that Christ suffered to save you!

Read out loud the focus verse for today: John 19:18 “Here they crucified Him, and with Him two others, one on each side and Jesus in the middle.” Repeat this verse over and over to yourself today.

Meditate today: “They crucified Him.”  In His love for you, Jesus stretched out His arms and legs and endured the excruciating pain of having His hands and feet pierced and nailed with spikes to the cross to save you.       

Spend 30+ min in prayer in the morning taking deeply to your heart the sufferings of Christ when His hands and feet were nailed to the cross. Do this at other times during the day as well. Think of how excruciatingly painful it was for Him. Hear Him cry out in pain as each spike is driven in. Thank Him for suffering for you. Weep at His feet and feel His suffering. Repent for being unwilling to suffer for Him. Tell Him you are willing to suffer and even be crucified for Him to save others.

Day 36 Carried His Cross

Daily Prayer: “Jesus I want to know you more intimately. I want to experience the fullness of your Holy Spirit and power in my life. I want you to use me to impact this world for you!”

Read focus passage John 19:16-18. As you read, let it sink deeper into your heart all that Christ suffered to save you!

Read out loud the focus verse for today: John 19:17 “Carrying His own cross He went out to the place of the skull (which in Aramaic is called Golgotha.” Repeat this verse over and over to yourself today.

Meditate today: “Carrying His own cross.”  In His love for you, having been beaten nearly to death, Jesus suffered to bear the weight of a Roman wooden cross and struggled to carry it outside of Jerusalem and up Golgotha’s hill to save you.       

Spend 30+ min in prayer in the morning taking deeply to your heart the continuing sufferings of Christ as He carried His cross for you. Do this at other times during the day as well. Thank Him. Think about all the brutality He endured before the cross came down on His back. Think of the agony of every step He took as He embraced and carried the cross for you. Weep at His feet and feel His suffering. Repent for being unwilling to suffer for Him. Tell Him you are willing to carry your cross for Him to save others.

Day 35 Further Beatings, Humiliation & Thorns

Daily Prayer: “Jesus I want to know you more intimately. I want to experience the fullness of your Holy Spirit and power in my life. I want you to use me to impact this world for you!”

Read focus passage Matthew 27:27-31. As you read, let it sink into your heart what Christ suffered to save you!

Read out loud the focus verses for today: Matthew 27:30 “They spit on him, and took the staff and struck him on the head again and again!” Repeat these verses over and over to yourself today.

Meditate today: “They spit on him… and struck him on the head again and again!”  In His love for you, Christ, even after being brutally flogged, continued to suffer repeated brutality and humiliation at the hands of the Roman soldiers… to save you.       

Spend 30+ min in prayer in the morning taking deeply to your heart the repeated brutality and humiliation Jesus suffered for you. Do this at other times during the day as well. The flogging He received was enough to kill a man! And yet the soldiers continued to beat Him, spit on Him, mock and humiliate Him. But He took it all for you! Weep at His feet and feel His suffering. Tell Him you are willing to suffer brutality and humiliation for Him to save others.

Closing prayer: “Holy Lord Jesus, thank you for suffering continued brutality and humiliation to save me. Prepare my heart to suffer persecution and brutality for you, to save others during my 40 days of prayer and fasting.”

Day 34 Brutally Flogged

Read focus passages John 19:1-3, Isaiah 52:13-53:6. As you read, let it sink into your heart what Christ suffered to save you!

Read out loud the focus verses for today: John 19:1 “Then Pilate took Jesus and had him flogged.” Isaiah 52:14“His appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness”   Repeat these verses over and over to yourself today.

Meditate today: “His appearance was so disfigured beyond that of any man and his form marred beyond human likeness”  In His love for you, Christ suffered a brutal Roman flogging that ripped the flesh from His bones lash after lash; He was so badly beaten He was barely recognizable… to save you.       

Spend 30+ min in prayer in the morning taking deeply to your heart the brutal flogging Jesus suffered for you. Do this at other times during the day as well. Think about the violent pain of the 39 lashes of the Roman whip as it left bloody slashes all over His body! Think of how He was beaten down and broken by the end. Weep at His feet and feel His suffering. Tell Him you are willing to suffer violence and beatings for Him to save others.

Closing prayer: “Holy Lord Jesus, thank you for suffering a brutal flogging to save me. Prepare my heart to suffer persecution and beatings for you, to save others during my 40 days of prayer and fasting.”

Day 33 Arrested, Falsely Accused, Condemned, Rejected

Read focus passage Luke 23:18-25. As you read, let it sink deeper into your heart all that Christ suffered to save you!

Read out loud the focus verses for today: Luke 23:20-21 “Wanting to release Jesus, Pilate appealed to them again. But they kept shouting, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”  Repeat these verses over and over to yourself today.

Meditate today: “They kept shouting, Crucify him! Crucify him!”  In His love for you, Christ suffered the humiliation and persecution of arrest, false accusation, and the rejection of His own people as they demanded His crucifixion… to save you.       

Spend 30+ min in prayer in the morning taking deeply to your heart the persecution and rejection Christ suffered for you. Do this at other times during the day as well. Think about what He went through as He was falsely accused, spit upon, beaten up and sentenced to death for being a blasphemer. Think of what it was like for Him to hear His own people… shouting crucify Him! Weep at His feet and feel His suffering. Tell Him you are willing to suffer persecution and rejection to save others.
